Bruce Backer, President
With a strong track record of improving business processes through automation, Bruce has held leadership positions with a number of technology-based companies, beginning with IBM and Travelers Companies. Joining LoanSifter in 2006, he was the president and co-owner of C3 Corporation, an automation technology provider, and president and co-owner of EMS Sales and Engineering, an energy solutions provider. As LoanSifter's president, Bruce leverages his wide range of experience in management, business development, finance, product development and workflow innovation. Bruce graduated from the University of Wisconsin — Madison in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Rob Withers, Vice President, Product Development
Rob has spent the last decade in the mortgage technology space working for product & pricing engine companies such as Sollen Technologies and Optimal Blue, holding positions as an engineer, architect and executive. Rob's experience has revolved around software design & development, management of people / projects / vendor relationships, product development, business development, system integrations, system implementations and mortgage banking workflow. Rob graduated from Texas State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and followed up in 2000 with an Associate of Science degree in Software Development.
Mark Coupland, Vice President, Business Development
Mark has over a decade of secondary marketing and correspondent lending experience. He led Guaranteed Rate's Secondary Marketing group for nearly three years as the company grew from $3.5 to an expected $10 billion in annual retail mortgage origination. Mark also spent nearly seven years at a Bank of America legacy company. While there, he managed pricing and trading analytics, margin strategy and competitive intelligence for the correspondent lending division, supporting the sales force, and all delivery channels, from best-effort to assignment of trade and bulk. He also spent two years trading and pricing the adjustable rate mortgage position within Secondary Marketing. Mark began his mortgage banking career at Deloitte & Touche, working on asset securitization projects for the Securitization Strategies Team. Mark has pivotal experience within all aspects of secondary marketing, mortgage operations, directly relating to our client base, and managing organizations both large and small. Mark holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Sue Stewart, Vice President, Client Services
Sue has been in the mortgage industry for 30 years with the last 20 years serving in executive leadership. Sue has specialized in both start-ups and company restructures and has an extensive history of achieving successful metrics and results. After serving as President of Mercedes Homes Mortgage Company, she accepted the position of Senior Vice President at Move, Inc., the operator of Realtor.com. There she championed the first-ever, on-line, prequalification decision engine, which elevated Move, Inc. to be a reputable source for mortgage information and lead generation. Sue graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Public Relations.
Jason Miller, Vice President, Information Technology
As the Vice President of Information Technology, Jason uses his mortgage domain knowledge and wide array of technical, and analytical skills to help architect solutions to complex industry problems. Jason has a proven track record of producing software that is ahead of schedule and exceeds expectations. Since joining LoanSifter in 2007 he has also held the titles of Developer and Senior Developer. Jason graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
Ric Stelter, Director of Operations
Ric brings more than 30 years of experience in operations management and client services from a variety of complex industries including; aerospace, defense, energy management and electronic contract manufacturing. Ric joined LoanSifter in early 2008 to help define and structure the processes associated with data acquisition and client services. Ric holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of La Verne.
Scott VandenElzen, Vice President, Process Improvement
Scott has over 30 years of experience in software life-cycle development with an established track record of developing major projects from conception to final implementation and maintenance. He has held leadership roles in several development organizations. Currently at LoanSifter he serves as the VP of Process Improvement where he is an internal application life cycle consultant to the development teams to formalize business analysis, development, and quality assurance processes within the organization. Scott holds a number of professional certifications including Microsoft MCSE, MCPD, MCDBA, and MCITP, he is a Certified ScrumMaster/CSM. He received a BS in Mathematics/Computer Science from University of Wisconsin Green Bay and a Masters in Software Engineering from Regis University in Denver, CO.
